Our starting point
Start with Unlimited when your agency sells managed services. Consider Agency Pro when a specific Pro feature is essential to how you deliver or charge for those services.

Treat the extra $200 as a business decision
On monthly billing, Pro adds $200 to the base bill. On annual billing, the difference is $2,000 for a year. Write down the exact process that the upgrade would change: opening client accounts, charging for software, or using an API endpoint. If you cannot name that process, the extra capacity may not solve your current problem.
A client count is not an upgrade trigger
Ten clients do not automatically make Pro the better purchase. Neither do fifty. In this comparison, the relevant question is whether your service depends on a capability exclusive to Pro. Use the cost calculator to budget usage separately; a higher subscription does not make every text message or AI feature free.
- Choose Unlimited if you manage client accounts yourself and only need its published features.
- Evaluate Pro if automated software subscriptions or marked-up usage charges are part of an actual customer offer.
- If you need advanced API access, ask the vendor to confirm the particular endpoints and limits before committing.
Model the upgrade with contribution, not revenue
Suppose an agency expects an additional $250 a month after payment fees, support and variable delivery costs from a new offer. That hypothetical contribution would cover a $200 monthly plan increase, leaving $50. It is not a sales forecast. If no customers adopt the offer, the added subscription cost remains.
Test one complete customer journey
Before upgrading, work through signup, account creation, usage billing, failed payments and cancellation with a test account you control. Check what the customer sees and who handles support. A successful signup alone does not prove that the recurring service will be manageable. Obtain the current rules for mid-cycle changes and annual billing from HighLevel before changing an existing contract.
