Record the billing terms before activating anything
HighLevel states that paid billing begins automatically after a free trial unless cancelled. Its published pricing also notes that telecommunications and third-party usage charges may apply during a trial. A free subscription period should not be treated as a promise that every action is free.
Take your billing terms from the actual offer you select, including whether it leads to monthly or annual billing. Record the cancellation route and a review date before renewal. An offer shown elsewhere may have different conditions, and we cannot extend a trial or change the provider's billing terms.
| Record | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Plan and included features | The trial must test the tier you intend to keep |
| Trial end and first charge dates | Your decision must happen before unwanted renewal |
| Usage wallet and add-ons | Calls, messaging and extras can change the cost |
| Cancellation route and confirmation | A calendar reminder alone does not cancel a subscription |
Test one complete lead journey
Use a small set of authorised sample records. Configure a form or enquiry source, assign the lead, run the required follow-up and inspect the report. Include a reply, a duplicate and an opt-out. These cases reveal more than browsing the feature menus.
Choose one person to document the expected outcome and one person to repeat the test as an ordinary user. If you deliver work for clients, check a restricted client login as well as the administrator view. Mark a requirement as passed only after observing the outcome.
- The enquiry has the fields and owner needed for the next action.
- Replies, suppression and opt-out cases stop inappropriate follow-up.
- Staff and client access respect the intended workspace boundaries.
- The decision-making report reconciles to the underlying records.
- The proposed recurring bill includes paid usage and tools that remain.
Make the keep-or-cancel decision explicit
At the review point, list passed requirements, unresolved requirements and the cost of resolving them. A paid plan is justified by a workflow you can operate, not by time already spent configuring the trial. If a critical requirement is unresolved, retain the current system while you decide what to do.
Existing HighLevel users should manage their current account. Do not cancel and re-register to try to change referral attribution. The worksheet on our plan finder is available without a purchase and can be used to record the pilot either way.

Use your current invoice, a realistic usage allowance and the software you will keep. Compare the full first year, including the period when both systems are running.
